A 40yrs lady kudirat Bello has been charged to court for killing her neighnour's daughter by throwing the 4yrs old child into a well.
Kudirat appeared before the Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos on thursday for the murder of the child who was found dead in May. The court could not take the defendant's plea as Magistrate M.O Tanimola sought time to ask the advice of the state's Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The Magistrate remanded the woman at the IKoyi Prisons, pending the advice of the DPP. According to the prosecutor Sgt Victor Eruada, the accused, a Resident of No.1 Haruna Street Fadeyi Lagos, committed the murder on May 23. he said the Victim's mother had a long standing disagreement with Ms. Bello. He argued that the disagreement may be the motive for the crime. He said the toddler a little girl went to the defendants apartment to get a pencil but did not return, she was later found dead in the well shortly after. When the victims dad Mr Solomon Martins demanded an explanation, the defendant claimed the little girl suddenly said that she wanted to jump into the well and that before she could stop her she jumped into the dry well.
The case has being adjourned till october 10
