Activities of a London-based group, Bendel Schools Reunion, an assembly of old boys of Bendel state schools have been boosted as Edo state government pledge to support the group.
In a statement issued recently shortly after a courtesy visit to Edo state Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Barrister McDonald Obasuke who is one of the alumnus of the Bendel schools, Coordinator of the group, Comrade K. E. Oloye said that the state commissioner was delighted about the idea of the group.
Obasuke according to the statement commended Oloye over the visit and lauded the initiative which he said would go a long way to putting the name of the schools in the international spotlight. He, therefore, advise other Nigerians in the diaspora to emulate the step.
Oloye said that the group was formed to reunite and bond old friendship/schoolmates while creating a refreshing opportunity for members to catch up with the current trend in the socio-economic of the country.
"The commendation is a moral booster for this association. We are happy that one of us who is in government like what we are doing, trying to unite all Bendel Schools old boys/girls together.
"Though there is no financial involvement in this kind of support, we are elated because it would spur us to carry on with the good activities of the association", Oloye added.
He disclosed that Bendel Schools Reunion and friends party which is an initiative of the group had united Nigerians more than any other organization in the UK.
Meanwhile, preparation is at the top gear for the Bendel Schools Reunion and friends fiesta which is slated for 25, July 2015.
This year summer event which has the theme: "Flash Back" is billed to hold at the unique party palace, 31 Falkirk Street London N1 6HF, as from 10.00hours to 0400am.
According to a statement issued by co-organizers of the event, Onyeka Dunku, and Aina Omo-Bare, the event promises to be a night of entertainment galore with comedy, debate, and other side attraction.
The audience will be thrilled to scintillating music by the duo of DJ Onomski and DJ Shola B.
Those expected at the event would include prominent Nigerians in the Diaspora, captain of industries, movie stars among others.
The Bendel Schools Reunion is a United Kingdom (UK) formed association of alumnus of Bendel Schools. It is a social networking group which has no affiliation to any political, religion or ethnic organization. The body often have annual schools reunion party and regular meeting of old students across the UK and beyond.
