BOAT MISHAP: SIX CHILDREN DROWN AS BOAT CAPSIZED IN LAGOS

This is so sad nobody, like to hear such sad stories of kids dying, may their souls rest in peace. A canoe conveying fourteen school children capsized today in Irawe area of Ojo , Lagos, resulting in the death of six students while eight of them including the driver were rescued.

The rescued children , some of whom were said to be primary school pupils and secondary school students who were on their way to school, were responding to treatment at the Igando general hospital, where they were rushed to.

General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the incident, saying that it occurred around 9.00am on Wednesday.
“at Ojo Local Government, Irewe area, a fiber boat ran into a canoe carrying 14 children around 9 am. Eight of the children and the canoe driver have been rescued. Five have been taken to Igando General Hospital for treatment, three have been discharged home while six passengers are still missing. The rescue operation continues.”
