3-YR-OLD BABY WAS RAPED BY FAMILY FRIEND

A 3-YEAR-OLD baby, Joy Olotukeme was a victim of rape by a 15-year-old neighbour, who was considered a family friend.
The rapist, Master Okini Anda-owei, an indigene of Ogriagbene community in Bomadi local government area and resident in Bomadi, headquarters of the local government, was said to have lured his baby-victim to an incomplete building at about 10:am on the fateful day where he allegedly raped her.
Our Bomadi Correspondent reports that the mother of the baby, Doris Ololukeme at the time of the incident was busy with domestic chores while her daughter was being raped, believing she was safe in the hands of a trusted neighbour.
Okini, the JSS student, who admitted committing the act of juvenile delinquency upon questioning, attributed it to “an act of the devil”.
He said, “Joy is my little friend. I love playing with her. I frequent their house to play with her. On that day, I took her to an uncompleted building behind the General Hospital, Bomadi, where I raped her.”

Mother of the victim, Mrs. Olotukeme, who was visibly furious, explained that she discovered her daughter was raped when the baby was behaving funny and restless as she could not sit with her legs closed.
“She was crying and pointing to her private part,” she said, adding that the baby was saying “mummy, Okini take him prick do me”.
According to her, she immediately took her to the hospital where it was confirmed by the medical officer that she was raped. Angered by the doctor’s report, the father of the little baby, Mr. Olotukeme Friday, who is a staffer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, including some neighbours, described the incident as bizarre, just as they fetched the culprit for question.
Olotukeme advised parents to be wary of those they call family friends as they may be exposing their unsuspecting children and family to criminals.
Mr. Ware-ebi Andao-wei, a family member to the rapist, who spoke on behalf of the father, Mr. Andao-owei Endoro condemned the act, saying, “it is dastardly and a taboo”.
He confirmed Okini’s delinquent behaviour and apologised on behalf of Okini’s father, who is sick. The remorseful Okini was subjected to public shame to serve as deterrence to potential teen rapist(s) who may be in the sprawl.
