PHCN STAFF ELECTROCUTED IN EKITI

A staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Mr. Samuel Job Isaac was yesterday electrocuted while working on 33 KVA high tension wire.

The deceased was said to have been carrying out repair work at the Satellite/NTA area of Ado-Ekiti when the incident occurred. Daily Trust learnt that his corpse has since been deposited at the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).

It was gathered that the deceased, who graduated from the Osun
State College of Technology as an Electrical/Electronics Engineer, was shocked by a 33Kva high tension wire that suddenly disconnected while he was working on the pole.
Reacting, spokesman of the PHCN in the district, Mr Kayode Brown, said the victim was working on the feeder to detect some faults on the high tension wire when the incident occurred.
Describing the deceased as an experienced staff, Brown recalled that Isaac was employed about three years ago and had handled sensitive electrical work since then.

"We have to get to root of this matter because cases of back-feeding is very rare while working on high tension and nobody uses generator that could warrant such situation, so we are at loss as to the cause of his death", he said.
