22 YEAR OLD NIGERIAN MAN CAUGHT WITH 1.3KG HARD DRUGS

A 22-year-old Nigerian, Jude Ejikonye Ilechukwu who resides in Thailand was recently apprehended by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with 1.295kg of substance discovered to be methamphetamine. Ilechukwu was arrested at the international wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. The drug which was concealed inside his luggage, was detected during the screening of passengers on Ethiopian Airline at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The MMIA Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Hamza Umar, said the drug was carefully hidden in the suspects’ luggage. Umar said: “Like several factory modes of drug concealment, we had to practically cut the bag open to detect the drugs. “Ordinarily, when you open the bag, you will not see the drug. “We found two brown parcels of drugs weighing 1.295kg.”

STUDENT DRAGS COVENANT UNIVERSITY TO COURT FOR EXPELLING HIM FROM THE INSTITUTION

A  student of Covenant University who was expelled from the University for allegedly watching pornography has taken th institution to court , according to reports

The student, Vwamhi Longji Felix, in his 24-paragraph affidavit to support his claim, stated that before he was expelled his parents had spent not less than N10 million on his school fees and other expenses. He was a 400 level student of Communication Technology reportedly expelled on 23rd November 2012, following a night raid by the Student Affairs’ Unit of the institution. This was followed by his appearance before the school’s disciplinary panel which recommended his expulsion.

Vanguard reports that at the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, the prosecuting counsel Segun Fatoki, told the court that Felix was allegedly expelled without an opportunity of a proper hearing or viewing the evidence in accordance with the standard practice as guaranteed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999. He also claimed that his expulsion was a violation of Section 44 of Chapter 4 of the student Handbook of the Covenant University.

GIRL TO GET 100 LASHES FOR PRE-MARITAL SEX IN MALDIVES

A 15-year-old rape victim has been sentenced to 100 lashes for engaging in premarital sex, court officials said.
The charges against the girl were brought against her last year after police investigated accusations that her stepfather had raped her and killed their baby. He is still to face trial.

Prosecutors said her conviction did not relate to the rape case.
Amnesty International condemned the punishment as "cruel, degrading and inhumane".
The government said it did not agree with the punishment and that it would look into changing the law.

Zaima Nasheed, a spokesperson for the juvenile court, said the girl was also ordered to remain under house arrest at a children's home for eight months.
She defended the punishment, saying the girl had willingly committed an act outside of the law.

Officials said she would receive the punishment when she turns 18, unless she requested it earlier.
The case was sent for prosecution after police were called to investigate a dead baby buried on the island of Feydhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, in the north of the country.

Derenle’s untelligible tribute is a piece of news on almost all the online media. DOCTOR TURNS HOSPITAL INTO PRISON

But for the signpost with the inscription, “Multicare Hospital and Women Welfare Centre”, placed in front of the uncompleted two-storey building at the Omagba phase one area of Onitsha, nothing suggests that the occupant is involved in health matters.

From the entrance to the building through the staircase, one is confronted with a blinding smell of drugs and medical wastes. Inside the rooms, the patients sweated profusely on top of creaky beds with torn mattresses. For lack of space, some of them lay on the stretcher, taking infusion by the staircase. 

Others writhing in pains from various degrees of injuries, spat intermittently to ward off the stench that pervaded the place. Before his visit to the hospital, Sunday Sun reporter had earlier, from the adjoining street, spotted some persons peeping out from iron rod protectors on the second floor of the building. 
It was later gathered that they were patients detained by the owner of the hospital due to their inability to pay their medical bills. Sources stated that some of them have stayed in ‘captivity’ for nearly two years as they seek for ways of settling their bills and regain their freedom.

MAN 34 CHARGED WITH RAPING A 3YEAR OLD GIRL

A 34-year old man, Kehinde Paul Layode, has been arraigned before a family court in Ikeja for allegedly defiling a three-year old girl (name withheld).
The incident, which happened at 3/5, John Crescent, Igando, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, was reported at the Igando Police Station.
The accused, if found guilty, risks spending a minimum of five years in jail under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
According to the girl’s mother (name withheld) who spoke with P.M.NEWS correspondents, Kehinde was one of her neighbours and she left her daughter in his custody to get drugs for the girl when the man allegedly took advantage of her.

“I was going to make my hair in the salon when I discovered that my daughter’s temperature was high and I told Kehinde’s wife to help me take care of her. But she asked me to leave her with her husband since she also wanted to make her hair and that we should go to the salon together.”
“It wasn’t up to ten minutes after I went to get the drugs for her that I returned to the house and asked Kenny (Kehinde) to open the door but he didn’t. Instead, he told me that the girl was sleeping, that I shouldn’t bother myself about her. Then I asked him to at least open the door for me to see my girl and he said that he was in the bathroom.”

The girl’s mother said she was shocked when the door was eventually opened and she discovered that the girl had been defiled.

Chief Justus Esiri OON, was a loving husband, father, grand father, brother, uncle and friend. An Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), The Otun Amuludun of the Source in Ile-Ife Osun State, and Veteran Nollywood Actor.
He died in the late hours of the 19th of February 2013. Chief Esiri, born on the 6th November 1942 hailed from Oria Abraka, Delta State. He was a strong believer in family values, and a great supporter of Nollywood.

BROTHER HACKS SIBLING TO DEATH OUT OF JEALOUSY

Policemen attached to Ilemba Hausa division have arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his brother, a Merchant Navy  to death while he was asleep. The incident, occurred at the early hours of Wednesday morning  at Oritse Street in Imude community, under Oto-Awori local development council area of Lagos. After allegedly committing the devilish deed, the suspect, Allen Biodun, 30,  reportedly dragged the remains of his brother, Allen Olawale Ayetimi, 24, to an uncompleted building behind their compound and dumped it inside  the foundation of the building, covered it with leaves. Thereafter he quietly went to his room and  took his late brother’s ATM card, his Merchant navy uniform and phone.

Crime Guard gathered that the deceased only returned from an official trip to  Port Harcourt at about 11pm Tuesday. Although, the late Olawale was based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. But his mission to his family’s house as reliably gathered, was to settle a score between his elder brother and  mother. Neighbours  who referred to Biodun as a terror in the area, alleged that he was  also responsible for the death of his father  two years ago. He was alleged to have poisoned his father’s food in order to take over  his three-bedroom bungalow as inheritance.
